My 12cents

Apr

As many of you know I recently spent a month in central Argentina sampling the local delights and delving deeply into their culture and finally after all this time being home I have gotten my shit together and decided to do a bit of a write up about the trip

There are a few things which need to be addressed straight up, I am currently in a extremely long distance relationship with a girl from Argentina. I am very lucky due to the fact that she is the best girl I have ever met, thus this trip was first and foremost to see her and meet her family and friends. This is also the reason I didn't travel massive amounts around the country and I stuck to the one area. So yeah this is my blog about the area I visited :D

Me and the Girlie

The women over there are amazing I'm not talking about "oh yeah she's pretty" they are all drop dead gorgeous and unlike the majority of Aussie girls I have had contact with all of them are the most down to earth and nice women I have ever met.

The terrible thing was I was not used to such welcoming and caring behaviour, to the extent that I actually was completely lost for words on several occasions. The perfect example of this is when two of my girlfriend's friends started to learn English after having never attempted it before, just cause I was going to Argentina.

These were most of the girls who I was hanging out with over the month

The next thing I realised very quickly was that the only thing more important than religion to every Argentinian is futbol. The Girlie's brother and his insane delinquent mates took me out to my first ever soccer match, but first came the drinking about 3 hours of drinking red wine mixed with coke on the rocks. The wine comes in 2 litre bottles and costs about $3 a bottle, so you can get a pretty good image of the quality of wine we were drinking. Then we headed off to the game with an extremely drunk driver which didn't seem to bother anyone at all...

Me at the Futbol

I have to say this was one of the most amazing experiences of my life; I have done many stupid, dumb, crazy, insane things but nothing has ever completely caught me up like being at this futbol match did. Perhaps it was partly how drunk I was but all the singing and drums made the atmosphere so intense and electric that I cant really explain it. I have been to major Aussie rules games at the MCG and they pale in comparison to the atmosphere at that tiny pitch.

Then finally the nightclubs, they dont have any laws about measuring out shots into glasses in Argentina so instead they fill your glass 1/2 way with vodka and then give you a can of red bull to wash it down. So in the end your drinking about 200ml of vodka for about $4.50. The style of music though is terrible, it's kinds like they are 5-10 years behind us with what we play at clubs/bars and couple that with DJ's who play like those DJ's at your local who have no fucking idea what they are doing it can be a little frustrating but the clubs are definitely made up for in other ways.

Me, the girlie and her best friend

But again it comes down to the women, and laughing at Argentinean men, the guys are crazy and treat women terribly over there. It's quite normal for a man to grab a woman, touching her face and hair and telling her how pretty she is and how he could fall in love with her etc etc... When the girl tells him to fuck off they get this constant stream of abuse like "eyy what the fuck is wrong with you, I am perfect, its you who has the problem, its ok I'm going to find your friend now." But again the women look amazing and all of these chicks were dolled up like crazy. I swear I didn't see a ugly girl the whole time I was over there.

Many people since I came back have asked me if I would recommend it for a holiday, I have to say I'm a bit both ways on this topic I had the most amazing time over there and i really enjoyed every minute. Yet i also had a local who I had pretty much baby sitting me and it can get a bit dangerous if you are an obvious tourist and even worse if you don't speak Spanish. There are other hazards also like you cant get taxis around the place as a tourist as they a notorious for kidnapping people. But on the other hand I have never met people more polite and interesting in my life and I am currently planning my next trip over there next year.

Sorry about the terrible quality of the videos, for some reason it wont let me upload in HD??? anyway you get the idea, also tried to put all these images in the gallery but didn't work at all and after multiple attempts I gave up.

I hope you guys were able to find this a bit interesting.

This has been a Phin blog.
